MATERI PEMBELAJARAN
1. Definition of Procedure Text
Procedure text is a text that gives instructions on how to do, make something in step by step or chronological sequence.
2. Social Function of Procedure Text
To show/ tell/ explain the readers/listeners on how to make something. To make people know how to do something properly. To explain or give guidance on how to use certain appliances.
3. Structure of Procedure Text
● Goal Informs the reader of what the procedural text is about (title)
● Materials / Ingredients / Equipment Provides a bullet point list of what is needed for the procedural text.
● Steps Chronological Steps/ sequence on doing or making something
4. Type of Procedure Text
a. Recipes → Procedure text contained in recipe on how to make something. (How to Make a Ketempling)
b. Manual → Procedure text contained in guidance on how to operate/do something.(How to Make a Paper Flower)
c. Experiment → How to Make a Volcano Eruption Experiment
d. Tutorial → Video making tutorial (How to Do a Proper Push-Up)
5. Language Feature of Procedure Text
1. Using Present Tense In procedural text there are command sentences regarding how to make or do something.
2. Using Adverbial Sequence/ Conjunction Adverbs used to show the order of events or actions. These words help explain the order of events in a narrative or procedure. Examples are first, second, third, then, after that, finally, etc.
3. Using Action Verbs Action verbs, also known as dynamic verbs, describe an action or movement. For example put, add, pour, heat, cut, etc.
4. Using imperative sentence Imperative sentences always begin with verb 1 of an action verb or a verb that involves physical activity. So, we don't need to use a subject at the beginning of the sentence. For example Add 3 onions and mix it well.
5. Using Adverbs
● Adverb of time that indicates how long we have to do something. Example: in 10 minutes, for 1 hour.
● Adverb of manner informs on how to do something. Example: slowly, well, evenly, finely, etc.
Example of Procedure Text
“How to Make Ketempling (Kuningan’s Traditional Gemblong)

Ingredients:
● 250 grams of glutinous rice flour
● 50 grams of half-aged grated coconut
● A pinch of salt
● 100 ml of warm water
● Cooking oil for frying
For the sugar coating:
● 150 grams of coconut sugar (palm sugar), chopped
● 50 ml of water

Steps:
1. Mix the glutinous rice flour, grated coconut, and salt in a large bowl.
2. Slowly add warm water while kneading the dough until it becomes smooth and easy to shape.
3. Take a small portion of dough and shape it into an oval or round form (about the size of a meatball).
4. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
5. Fry the Ketempling until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain the oil.
6. In a separate pan, boil the coconut sugar with water to make a thick syrup.
7. Add the fried Ketempling into the syrup and stir quickly to coat evenly.
8. Let them cool so the sugar coating hardens.
